Level 4 Certificate in Music with Theology
This Level 4 programme provides a broad and integrated foundation in musicianship, creativity, and Christian theology. Each semester consists of thirteen weeks of teaching including one reading week, during which students study all four modules concurrently. This structure allows learners to develop multiple, connected skill sets at the same time—musical theory alongside songwriting, performance alongside theology—mirroring the interdisciplinary nature of real-world creative and ministry environments.
In Semester 1, students develop core musical understanding through Introduction to Music Theory (KM11), creative skills through Songwriting & Composition I (KM12), and practical musicianship in Music Performance & Ensemble Skills I (KM13). Alongside these, Foundations of Christian Theology (KM14) introduces major biblical themes, early doctrinal development, and the formative concepts of Christian belief.
Semester 2 continues this integrated approach. Students gain technical and studio-based confidence in Music Production & Recording Techniques (KM15), expand their creative craft in Songwriting & Composition II (KM16), and further develop practical musicianship in Music Performance & Ensemble Skills II (KM17). Running alongside these is Applied Theology (KM18), exploring how Christian faith shapes creativity, ethics, worship, and everyday life.
Alongside the assessed modules, students also participate in additional practical workshops and creative sessions in areas such as music production, video production, photography and digital media, which support wider creative and ministry skills development but are not formally assessed.
Following each 13-week teaching block, students enter a dedicated assessment period of two weeks. Assessments include both practical components (performance, composition, recording, production) and academic components (written work, presentations, reflective theology).
Designed to be engaging, manageable, and highly relevant to modern creative ministry, this qualification prepares students for worship leading, studio practice, ministry involvement, and further academic development.
